every now and again i’ll take a little pit stop to my local goodwill.
now, i’m not a huge thrifter, i don’t make things on etsy (yet) and, though i do love a great vintage or thrifted piece, i’ll usually stop in at TJMaxx first to see what deals i can find. but i do love my intermittent goodwill trips! here’s what i love about it.
.
the people
more than any other place (in my opinion) goodwill offers the widest variety of people i’ve ever seen. there is the soccer mom and the paycheck to paycheck, the college thrifter and the just-looking-for-a-great-deal ladies. it doesn’t matter. goodwill is just a fun place to look around for anyone, and whether you have to or whether you just want to, you can find great things for your house or closet! and that’s a pretty neat environment to peruse around in.
.
it’s the best place to find particular great things for super cheap
bakeware
seasonal platters and decor
records
occasional spectacular garnments (hello banana republic blouse!)
pictures frames (out the wazoo – great if you’re trying to frame a lot of photos at once)
furniture!
classic VHS videos! basically any disney movie you can imagine.
.
i always forget about it
no matter how much i think “man, i’ve gotta come back here” when i check out, i always forget about it. so it’s kind of like christmas when i remember to go again. and…
.
it’s always changing
you never know what you’re going to find, and it’s not going to be the same as last time you went. goodwill is always changing its inventory, and unless you go every week, you’re not going to see the same thing twice!
