to at-home spa & beauty treatments

not all of us can afford microdermabrasion treatments at the spa, or a nice, 60-minute full body massage (but wouldn’t that be nice?!) and let’s get real, we probably don’t have that extra $30 lying around for even the nice drugstore-brand beauty treatments. but how soothing does an evening of relaxation and pampering sound?

you don’t have to break the bank to relax and catch up on all your beautifying needs.  then you’ll wake up in the morning so fresh and so clean clean!

first, you should  clear out an evening during your week.  that’s right, and evening with NO plans!  order that pizza, rent a movie, and stay in.  consider inviting a friend or two!  just make sure they are good friends, because you’re going to look ridiculous.

here’s what you should have on hand: oatmeal, an egg, vinegar, mayonnaise, cling wrap

exfoliating and cleansing face mask

1/2 cup cooked oatmeal

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 egg

apply to a cleansed (unmoisturized) face.  take time to apply in gentle circles so the oatmeal can work its exfoliating magic.  yes, it will look disgusting on your face.  but it smells good, so make sure you have something to munch on.  wait 15 minutes, and rinse.

hydrating mayo hair mask

mayo!  on your head!

slather it on, starting at the tips, working to the roots.  comb through and stick your mayo-hair on top of your head.

here’s the funny part:  cover your hair with cling wrap

let it sit for 20 minutes, and wash out.*

there’s also no limit to your use of cucumber slices to cool and de-puff your eyes while you wait.  hey, why don’t you just put some of those extra slices in a pitcher of ice water for extra refreshment, juuust like the spa.  aaaah!

other mask ideas include:  1/2 mashed avacado and plain yogurt.*

if you want the whole works, consider the at-home beautifications we easily forget:

a good brow tweeze, crest white strip treatment (after you eat all the pizza), home manicure and/or pedicure, or my cancer-less favorite: a nice fake tan (i LOVE tan perfect)
